Schackenborg Castle and Park You are standing here at Schackenborg named after Reich commander and count Hans Schack. The castle grounds contain a wealth of birdcalls in all seasons. The castle ground south of Schackenborg Castle was laid by widow countess Sophie Dorothea Schack and was called Sønderhaven before it was significantly changed to a French park with large linden avenues and an octagonal gazebo. Around 1800 the park was expanded towards the south with a conifers plantation. After Prince Joachim’s acquisition of Schackenborg a number of different concerts and cultural events have been arranged here as well.
