Bremsbøl Sæd stien EN - The Desperate Murders in Sethe

The medieval village of Sæd Since the early middle ages Sæd has been the largest village in Ubjerg parish. The village is set on a slight hill in an otherwise flat and open marsh area. The hill is a natural sandbank deposited by the Vidå system. Untill the drainage in the 1920s Sæd was surrounded by water to the north, east and south from early autumn to late spring. The name Sæd originates from the old word ’Sethe’ which means sitting or settling.

The poorhouse by Sædmark, between Ubjergvej 7 and 9, received the poor from Sæd and Ubjerg. It was initially opened with 5 adults and 4 children in 1859.

Poor sparrow, come down The sparrows stick to houses and farms. Did you know you can find both house sparrows and eurasian tree sparrows ? Often both species(knds/variants?) are in the same flock. Fortunately they are easy to tell apart. The house sparrow male is grey on top of its head while the eurasian tree sparrow has a brown calotte.
